Working Together, Blurring Boundaries

between education, academia, industry and NGOs

Our team of conservation scientists bring conservation education and real research into the heart of our schools. Our extensive resources are individually tailored and seamlessly integrated within and beyond school curricula. Through innovative and creative approaches, we inspire students to understand conservation challenges and actively seek practical solutions.

How It Works

We provide a comprehensive and customisable conservation curriculum for students from KG1 to A-level that easily integrates into school timetables. This includes a suite of resources, from 20-minute micro-sessions to full school year programmes for in and after school.
By participating in Project Earthlings, schools can for example, collaborate on regional projects, collecting, sharing and analysing data with other schools. We want to create a powerful network of young minds contributing to a greater understanding of conservation issues and pragmatic solutions, with results plugging directly into real conservation outputs.

Project Earthlings has been focusing on tackling the issue of microplastics in the Omani environment, specifically on beaches, as currently, there is no data on what is actually there, let alone a strategy for reducing it.
.
At the incredibly successful World Fair held on Saturday 25th January at @cheltenhammuscat, the Project Earthlings team introduced the public to a beach survey and clean simulation- we are the first in Oman to develop a methodology for children to contribute directly to plastics quantification- feeding right into real-world research!
.
Guests were encouraged to think about what hidden microplastics are found on the beaches in Oman by sifting through our "polluted" sand.
.
In our ECAs, students have been carrying out scientific experiments in the lab to identify microplastics within different supermarket salt brands. We found traces of microplastic in all of our tested brands- uh oh...
.
Keep an eye out on our page for future beach survey and clean events where you can get involved in helping contribute to real-world data collection to tackle the beach litter problem here in Oman.
.
We go beyond raising awareness- we tackle the problem head on.

New working group! We are so proud to be part of the newly forming @society4conbio #Drone specialist group for #conservation.
.
Yesterday, two meetings were held to account for global time zones so everyone could happily join from around the world. Our time zone saw people joining from Europe, Africa and Asia.
.
The effort was led by long time colleague and friend of Melissa, David Guerin, who is a stalwart from the world of aviation and who, now retired, works harder than ever, in the drone space.
.
We look forward to bringing #drones4good updates from the global space to augment our amazing conservation programme here at @project.earthlings_hq

Our new workbook is out for those doing their @dukeofedaus volunteering with us!
.
We have senior students in two schools who are diligently learning all out anthropogenic marine debris and contributing to the research as part of the @50yearsoflitteronskye programme.
.
They are specifically tagging litter in a drone image from the Isle of Skye in Scotland and then marking how well they did, to help our team understand how accurately people tag litter in drone images.
.
Soon we will be getting students to help in our Omani drone research too, to tag litter on beaches which have never been drone surveyed before!

🎺Submissions Open🎺
For the second Earthlings Journal!
.
Our partner schools can now submit their pieces to the journal.
Deadline is 1st May 2026.
.
We can't wait to see what amazing research and awareness pieces have been created this academic year!
